Rico Won är tillbaka! Efter att ha släppt två Ep’s (“Works of  Wonder” och “Takin’ Over”), fullängdaren “Accept What You Can’t Change”  samt ett stort antal gästinhopp på olika album och mixtapes bestämde sig Rico Won för att ta en paus från musiken.

Efter att ha varit borta från musiken i nästan 3 år började inspirationen och lusten för musikskapande och skrivandet att komma tillbaka. Resultatet blev den 17 spår långa skivan “Ricks Caliber” .

“Det fanns en känsla av att svenska rappare figurerade i stora sammanhang utan att nå upp till den där riktiga kalibern. Det fanns ett sug efter den gamla, hårda, originella ljudbild som jag alltid tyckt så mycket om själv. Den nya skivan har skapats ur stunden, helt spontant och utan några förväntningar, press, tidsramar, regler eller begränsningar. Det var min revansch på mig själv. Att få känna att det var roligt att göra musik igen, utan massa krav.”

Skivan är inspelad under april-oktober i år och innehåller gästinhopp från Obnoxiuz, Roffe Ruff, Organismen, PST/Q, Prop Dylan, Promoe, Alyawan mfl.

DJ Akilles Best of 2009 (Front)

Dj Akilles has previously released two (as far as I know) mixtapes collecting the best, biggest and most influential tracks from the previous year. In 2006 he released The “Best of 2005″-mixtape through the site “Svensk Underjord” which mixed Swedish and American hip-hop. Last year he released “Best of 2008″ trough the Community/Blog Whoa which focused on Swedish hip-hop only. When it’s time to sum up the best tracks from 2009 he’s back to the concept of the 2005-mixtape and mixes both American and Swedish hip-hop.

31 tracks are mixed together by scratch and beat-juggling to form this mixtape that contains tracks from Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, Method Man & Redman, Jay-Z, Drake, Clipse, Organismen, Mofeta & Jerre, Ken Ring and many more. On top of this the mixtape also contains a brand new exclusive track from Professor P & Dj Akilles called “Each and Every Station”. Professor P & Dj Akilles will release a new EP later this year, so this could be a taste of what’s coming.

Promoe Bondfangeri

Earlier this year Promoe released “Kråksången” which was his first album in Swedish and even if you haven’t hear the whole album I’m guessing you’ve heard the hit single “Svennebanan“. It seems that he enjoyed rapping in Swedish and the recently released mixtape “Bondfångeri”is completely in Swedish (apart from a track by “Per Vers” which is in Danish). The mixtape is available in digital form through iTunes Store, Spotify or for free from Looptroop Rockers homepageand the CD will only be sold at shows. “Bondfångeri” features guest appearances from Allyawan, Afasi, Cosmic, Embee(Yes you read right!), Organismen, Per Vers, Sam-e, Supreme and Timbuktu. The amazing artwork (which continues in the same line as “Kråksången”) is designed byInk Graphix.

Organismen – Tomma Ord feat. Avastyle

Organismen visited Ametist last friday on the show “En Kärleksattack på Svensk Hiphop” where he gave an open-hearted interview and played the second single, “Tomma Ord”, from the upcoming album “Om Gud Vill och Vädret Tillåter”. The track features Avastyle who also produced it and is a bit more laid back and than the first single, “Den Vita Kaninen”. Even though I really liked the first single I have to admit that this is how I prefer organismen, laid-back and reflecting. He describes the track as

“a song about all the lies we promise each other. About wanting to change oneself, growing up or quitting bad habits, even though deep down you know that you will fall back in to old habits again.”

The track is now avaliable as a free download through Ametist blog and “Om Gud Vill och Vädret Tillåter” will be released through Pirate Bay in the end of June.

Organismen - Den vita Kaninen

I’ve been waiting to hear something from Organismen‘s upcoming album “Om Gud Vill och Vädret Tillåter” for ages and today he finally released the first single and video from the album! The track is called “Den Vita Kaninen” and he is generously giving it away as a free download through Piratebay. “Den Vita Kaninen” is produced by Dj Large and the video is directed by Torben Stampe.

The video and track can be downloaded through Piratebay. I also recomend you to check out his blog where you can read news, anecdotes and other things regarding him.
