Looptroop Rockers – Professional Dreamers

Looptroop Rockers – Professional Dreamers (Video)

I november förra året släppte Looptroop Rockers singeln, “On Repeat”.  Nu har det blivit dags för den andra singeln, “Professional Dreamers”, vilket även är namnet på deras kommande album. Videon hade premiär idag på  PSL där det även finns en intervju med dem. I intervjun säger Cosmic följande om videon:

“Den spelades in strax innan jul i Barcelona.

Merry Christmas!

It’s been a while since we updated The Salad days and it’s probably going to be a little while until we can start to update it frequently again. The reason for this is because “Niklas”, who I run this blog with, is currently in the middle of moving and I’ve been stuck at work so I haven’t had time or energy to update. After the Holidays I hopefully won’t be stuck at work as much as I’ve been lately and Niklas will be seteled in so that we can start with the frequent updating again.

Since our last post much has happened. I’ve started to write and update Chords homepage (which was once a fan-page that I started when i was 15-16) and I recently joined the hiphop-comunity Whoa’s blog as a writer, which I feel very honored about I just hope that I’ll be able to reach up to the high standards that the writers today manage to keep. Right now I’ve only written the second comment on the review of “Petter – X” but hopefully you’ll see more of me there in the future.

But this blog isn’t supposed to be about me, then nobody would read it. It’s about Swedish hiphop and since our last post so much has happened on the Swedish hiphop-scene that it’s impossible for me to even be able to sum it up! So I’ll just try to give you some of the highlights.

Allyawan (who we’ve written about earlier) has finally released his mixtape “Blu Duk Tales Vol.2″ and it’s smoking! The mixtape is released as a free download on whoa!

Gott & Blandat #2 Cover

Recently Swedish producer Masse released his mixtape Gott & Blandat #2 which features some of Swedens greatest MCs right now and Masse really proves why he’s considered one of Swedens best producers. The mixtape is avalible for free through Whoa and as if that wasn’t enough he is, in collaboration with whoa, giving you an early christmas present in the form of Gott & Blandat #1. This mixtape was released in 2001 and this is the first time it’s avalible in digital form.

But Masse and Whoa aren’t the only ones giving away early christmas presents! DJ/Blogger/Hip-Hop connaisseur DJ Sleepy is giving away a special Petter X-mas mixtape. The mixtape contains freestyles, rare tracks, remixes, blends and some tracks that didn’t make it to his last full lenght album, “Goddamnit”.

propdylan_morningafter_ep

Another early Christmas present comes from Prop Dylan and producer Logophobia in the form of  The Morning After EP”. The EP is released through Kingsize Magazine and Prop Dylan keeps showing why he is one of the most promising MC’s right now! He also recently released a video to the track “Top of the top” which features guest appearances from Promoe and Caribinghi

While I’m on the subject of videos I thought I just post one last thing that’s happened since our last post. The group Movits! who released their debut album “Äppelknyckarjazz” earlier this year (I feel a bit embarassed that I haven’t written about them earlier)  just released the video to their third single called “Fel del av gården” and I really dig their jazzy-organic sound! The video is directed by Axel Söderlund

Well I think that’s all I can manage to write in one post, hopefully you didn’t fall asleep while reading it. TSD will take a break (yeah I know we haven’t updated the site anyways, but now it’s officially a break) but we will return after the holidays. We have some ideas that we’ll hopefully realise in 2009 and we’re working on a project together with the very secret blogger Majestic Flow which will hopefully be finished during the first quarter of 2009!

Until then TSD wishes you a Merry christmas and a Happy New year!

Extra: Knockin’ on my door

I’m a very big fan of Chords but I’ve only managed to see him live 2 times in 5 years, well I’ve seen him as “Helt Off” and of course together with Timbuktu but solo concerts by Chords is still a pretty rare thing. So when i found out that he was doing 2 gigs in Stockholm (one on my first and only day off in 2 weeks!) I was psyched!

I went to both gigs, the first was at “Club Spiderdogs” but I’ll not go into details about that concert since it was nothing in comparison to the gig he did the day after (it also might have to do with the fact that I was a bit drunk during the first gig).

The show kick-starts with Moe and Spider Dogs gradually building up the beat to “Night Time Comes” and by the time Chords enters the stage the crowd is already wild! Spider dogs really does an amazing job and it really ads a lot of extra energy to the show. Wrap your chops is really something extra when you see it with a live band and when the whole crowd is screaming “high, high, high” during the chorus and Spider Dogs stats playing the beat to Luniz classic track “I Got 5 On It” I find it hard to imagine that the show will get any better than this. Wrong!

This gig is full of guests and when he’s done with his verse and chorus from “on the grind” he suddenly starts to sing the chorus from “På din grinn” and Organism 12 jumps up on stage, followed by Öris and then Mofeta. We’ve been promised a secret guest and after Mofeta has left the stage the band starts to play “Det brinner i Paris” and Timbuktu runs out on stage, by now the crowd has gone ballistic! You can really see that these two guys has shared a stage hundreds of times, they could probably jump up on stage together without rehearsing and give one hell of a gig!

The whole show was amazing and it makes one really wonder how anyone in the right mind can choose “Broder Daniel” before Chords. All I can say is that if you went to “The Voice 08″-show (why the hell would anyone do that!?) or just stayed home you really missed out on something! Big up to JuJu Records for the photo from the show!

I can’t record video clips with my phone and I don’t have access to a camera so to really show you how good “Wrap Your Chops is with a live band I thought I would give you a clip from the gig at “Joe’s Pub” a couple of years ago, enjoy!

Looptroop Rockers – The Building [Chords Remix]

[audio=http://www.chords.se/wp-content/2008/06/the_building_remix_by_chords.mp3]

It’s been a while since we posted anything new on this blog, I don’t think we’ll back at frequently posting yet (I don’t have internet in my apartment and my partner in crime is very busy at the moment) but we’ll try to update as often as possible.

To start things off we though we would give you a remix to one of this years hottest tracks, “The Building” by Looptroop Rockers. The funky remix is done by producer/rapper/singer Chords

Timbuktu & Damn! – Live!

A couple of years ago Timbuktu was on some heavy touring together with Damn! and Chords and could be seen all over Sweden. The shows were very popular and they really were something extra. Or so I’ve heard, some assclowns at megafeztival refused to pay them so I didn’t have a chance to see them in 2004 (I got to see Chords though).

Fortunately for me (and many others) they recorded some of the shows and released them on CD. The CD sold some time ago and now Timbuktu & JuJu Records are releasing it as a free download, so if you haven’t got it already this is a great chance to get one of the best live CD’s I’ve heard!

Tracklist

1. Intro/Lobbyn om 5
2. Din lian i rapdjungelen
3. Ett brev
4. Strö lite socker på mig
5. Gott folk
6. Gass Jaal/afrikan Scanien Music

Chords – Appetite for Consumption feat. Timbuktu [Video]

Chords released his sophomore album “Things we do for things” a couple of weeks ago and if you haven’t already I strongly advise you to go out and buy it! Last friday he released a video to the track “Appetite for Consumption” which features Timbuktu. This is not the next single from the album and the video was just shot for fun.

The video was shot in Venice Beach during last September and is directed by Kirk Edwards & Sam Claypool.

Chords – Appetite for Consumption & Places To Go

chords_press_photo.jpg

The release of Chords higly anticipated sophomore album “Things we do for things” is getting closer and judging by the focus on him right now I’m guessing I’m not the only one looking forward to it! Last Tuesday P3 Hiphop played an exclusive track called “Stay Hungry” (those of you who has complained that he’s not”hiphop”-enough should get your hunger stilled by this track).

And last night MTV Beat had a Chords special with interviews (in swedish only), videos and some more live-clips from the “Scandinavian Invasion”-show held in Paris a couple of weeks ago.  In the interview he says that the new album will feature more singing, on choruses as well as whole verses. Musically this album is somewhere between his last album and the albums he’s done as helt off.

The live clips featured 2 songs from the upcomming album, “Appetite for consumption” and “Places to Go”, both tracks sounds very promising and judging from what I’ve heard from this album this far It’s a classic! “Places to Go” is already a favourite and I’m keeping the video on repeat, when the album drops this track will definitely be on heavy rotation in my stereo!
