On Display är ett rykandes hett mixtape från svenska producenten Erik L som släpptes runt julen förra året. Ni har förmodligen hört talats om han tidigare, men om inte så är han ena halvan av producent-duon Flyphonic som i sin tur står bakom Superscis fantastiskt karakteristiska ljudbild.

På On Display får vi ta del av Erik Ls guldkorn från de senaste åren blandat med nytt material. Mixtapet är ihopsatt av svenska DJ:n Devastate och kan, enligt Erik själv, ses som en avslutning på de senaste årens hiphop och soul produktioner signerade han själv. Nu hamnar istället fokus på att färdigställa arbetet med nya albumet för den egna gruppen Favorite Flava som utgörs av producenten/sångaren Stray och sångaren Paul Mac Innes. Här är ljudbilden istället en mix av elektronisk soul/pop/RnB.

På mixtapet, som släpps via Soularp Records, medverkar gäster som Supersci, Kissey Asplund, Frank n Dank,  Dynamite MC och Favorite Flava.

ARiiSE – New Europe the Mixtape

Efter att få ha tagit del av ett par videos (Live/Mama & Happy Song) och en grym singel med ingen mindre än Stic.man från Dead Prez så släpper nu ARiiSE äntligen ifrån sig ett större släpp. ARiiSE är en duo som består av rapparen Nicolas L och dancehallartisten Zoro som bestämde sig för att göra musik tillsammans 2003 utöver sina egna solokarriärer.

Nu är det alltså dags för det första större släppet med gruppen och detta i form av mixtapet “New Europe the Mixtape” som är en teaser för vad som komma skall, nämligen albumet “New Europe the Album” som väntas släppas lagom till våren i år. Mixtapet är en välgjord salig blanding av hiphop & reggae med stor förkärlek till den afrikanska musiken.

Mixtapet släppas via Whoa.nu och gästas av Promoe, Dead Prez, The Last Poets & Soul Rebel och innehåller produktioner från Masse, Toby Zaiboot, Silason och Martin Lundenius för att nämna några.

Looptroop Rockers – On Repeat (Video)

Looptroop Rockers är till vår stora glädje tillbaka med en ny sång och tillhörande video! “On Repeat” är ett svar till det skamliga parlamentsvalet som hölls tidigare i år där det främlingsfientliga partiet Sverigedemokraterna tyvärr blev invalt.

Videon är gjord av Svante Lodén & Johan von Brömssen.

Following the latest election in Sweden (September 19) we wrote, and recorded this song – responding to a racist party being voted in to the Swedish parliament in particular, and to the extreme right wing winds blowing over European and world politics in general. The feelings of frustration and anger had to be channeled some way, and the very day after the election we met in the Wax Cabinet studio to voice our opinion about history repeating itself, and Sweden being an even colder country this fall. — Looptroop Rockers

Näääk – Namnet Var Näääkish

“Namnet Var Näääkish” is the third single from the solo album “Näääk Vem?“. The beat is signed Charlie Bernardo and the video is produced by the duo  behind “Mina Gangsters“, Karl-Uno Lindgren and John Lindgren that is. I find this one as the weakest video coming from Näääk so far but it’s still a very suitable video for the song.

Näääk is truly on the subject with his Grammis2010- and P3 Guld nominations and that’s not all – Näääk will support as an opening act for Talib Kwelis gigs here in Sweden. Don’t miss that out!

Näääk - Näääk Vem?

Näääks debut album releases the 21th October and a releaseparty for the record is being held at Hotel Reisen (Stockholm) by Salong Betong and Slangmusik at Thursday (the 22nd). The event starts at 20:00 sharp and the first one arriving will get free Red Stripes and goodie bags from Caliroots. You can RSVP to the event at facebook here.

We have written about his singles earlier, “Så Jag Lever Mitt Liv” and “När Ska Han Växa Upp?” and now it’s time for the full release. To my surprise, the whole record is allready available at Spotify! I know what’s going to spin in my earphones this morning.

Promoe - Shoot Me

Promoe released a new track a couple of days ago at Looptroop Rockers website. It’s produced by a norwegian producer called Jason Dean Beats. I haven’t heard anything from Jason Dean before but according his MySpace he has recently worked with Prop Dylan and Big Shug (!) which sounds really promising. The cuts is made by another Oslo based producer/dj – Dj Final.

I’m not that fund over the lyrics, feels kinda like a cliché BUT I do like the sad story in contrary to the happy beat with the laidback cuts. And hey, Promoe delivers over Jason Deans playful beat. It’s a well produced track definitely deserved to be downloaded which you can do here below:

MBFIMG Challenge #3 – Follow Me

Pato Pooh - Follow Me ft. Adam Tensta (Bum Bill Remix)

Pato Pooh’s new video “Follow Me ft. Adam Tensta” as we wrote about in the last post already has +20 000 views at YouTube. In other words, it is not only we at TSD that digs Pato’s new joint.

Top Streetwear, MBFIMG and Deh Din Poik has put up a remix-challenge for the single, one for rappers and one for producers. The challenge goes on for 48hours and it’s all about most views at YouTube and points from a jury. You can read the entire rules over at MBFIMG.com

I haven’t checked out all the remixes yet, + 110 contributions but I have to give some shine to one of the contesters. The producer Bum Bill Beats, who used to be a part of the duo “Pikturez & Bum Bill“, has put together a really dope remix. Last night Pato Pooh had the releaseparty for his banging new single and musicvideo “Follow Me” (at Berns) which is featured by no other than Adam Tensta. And today the video has it’s premiere over att Aftonbladet.se!

“Follow Me” is  produced by Jeff “Gameboii” Roman (DDP) and the video is directed by Mace Frost and his team which gives you that smashing old classic video game vibe. It’s released through DehDinPoik Entertainment and RMH Entertainment.

Carlito – Babylon Brinner (TSB Remix)

Babylon Brinner

Carlito, an upcoming rap artist here in Sweden released “Babylon Brinner” feat. Jacco & Aki last summer which was well appreciated by the audience. The track was produced by Masse (TSB). Now Masse has kindly released a really nice reggae remix of the track!

Carlito might be an upcoming artist but he ain’t a rookie. For those who don’t know, he used to rap in the constellation “Konkret Konspiration” in 2000 who featured “Streetzone Records – Jakten på Under Orden Vol. 2″ with their track “Snicksnack”. Since then, Carlito has been inactive but started to kick again last year which ended up with a guest spot at Masses tape “Gott & Blandat #2″ with the track “D Sån Där“.

This year he has released “Säg Pass” at whoa.nu, featured STORs mixtape “Skolans Nya Ledare” and have featured several gigs with Labyrint.

Sorry for completely missing out to blog about Promoes last two songs of the month. But better late then never I suppose and hey, Promoe is one month late with a track!

The track for July is called “Dressed To Kill Under A Full Moon” and the beat is signed Jimmy Ledrac who also produced “Sunday Morning“. The variation of the tracks sound is kinda wide which is highly appreciated.

For August we have “Gunz” featuring no other than the jamaican reggae artist Lutan Fyah. The title itself gives you a great hint what the track is about and Dj Large gives you that classic reggae vibe to it. Makes me go back and spin Promoes album “Long Distance Runner“.
