Elsa is a 20 year old rapper from Stockholm and she has recently released “Girl In The Game” which is the first single from her coming album “Stickup”. The album consists of productions from RSL Beats, Kryptonite, Yas (Goldmine), Duggud, Bum Bill + guest spots by Critical and Bashie.
Elsa released the demo “Satisfaction (PrettyUgly)” 2,5 years ago which was well recieved by the audience as well as the press and radio. She played at numerous gigs all around Sweden the summer of 2007 til early 2008 and got airtime on both swedish and french radio.
Since then she has feature several mixtapes and compilations (Best Of Swedish Groove for example) and now she is, as we said, about to release her record “Stickup”.
“Girl In The Game” is produced by RSL Beats and recorded at Level 8 Studios where the whole record has been recorded as well.
The video to Ison & Fillestrack “Jag Skrattar Idag” (which we wrote about earlier) was released today. The video is directed by Mattias Gustafsson and Oskar Ljungholm for www.slagskottfilm.com and the track is produced by Astma. Taken from their fortcomming album “För Evigt”.
I also would like to recommend those of you that listen to P3 to tune in on wendnesdays at 16.08 and listen to “Lilla Al Fadjis Hälliwüüd Radio”.
The video for Embee’s latest single “Desire To Be Free ft Nina Ramsby” has recently been released. It might not look that fancy for a start, but it is really a well directed video by Carl-Michael Herlöfsson who has captured the vibe for the single totally. A mellow video which takes the single to a new level.
… but can we blame the children when they kill the children / and can we blame the young men when they become the gun men / when we create the monster but let’s expose the sponsor / cus i wanna know who’s responsible.
Finally the song of the month for June by Promoe has arrived from the Basecamp Studios. This time the song of the month is produced by Mr Sloap, a riddim/reggae producer based in Skåne, Sweden. Hanouneh, who is completely unknown for me, is backing up on the vocals and she pulls it off great. According to her MySpace profile she is a former jazz vocalist who has moved on to reggae and hip hop with a political message in her songs. She and Mr Sloap runs a label together called DonDada where they produces and distrubuting reggae and dancehall music.
Finally the first single from Näääk’s debut album “Näääk Vem?” has been released! The single is called “Så Jag Lever Mitt Liv” and it’s produced by Marvin Caliste for Blast Off Productions and A.K.
I have been waiting for new material signed Näääk ever since I heard and saw the video “Mina Gangsters ft. Nimo Cheebs“. It’s definitely one of the best swedish hip hop videos in my humble opinion.
The single is a very laidback storytelling track about Näääk’s common life, “… brudar, weed och vitt vin“, and I really dig his unique flow. Of course his wingman Nimo Cheebs figures in the video, which is directed and edited by Ivan Spee and Niklas Lindberg. The album drops 21th October through Slang Musik and the tattoo shop Salong Betong.
Organismen visited Ametist last friday on the show “En Kärleksattack på Svensk Hiphop” where he gave an open-hearted interview and played the second single, “Tomma Ord”, from the upcoming album “Om Gud Vill och Vädret Tillåter”. The track features Avastyle who also produced it and is a bit more laid back and than the first single, “Den Vita Kaninen”. Even though I really liked the first single I have to admit that this is how I prefer organismen, laid-back and reflecting. He describes the track as
“a song about all the lies we promise each other. About wanting to change oneself, growing up or quitting bad habits, even though deep down you know that you will fall back in to old habits again.”
The track is now avaliable as a free download through Ametist blog and “Om Gud Vill och Vädret Tillåter” will be released through Pirate Bay in the end of June.
Embee, who use to call him self “Dj Embee” back in the days when he founded Looptroop Rockers in 1991 together with Promoe, recenlty released a single. “Desire to Bee” is featured by singer Nina Ramsby and is of course produced by Embee in the notorious “Wax Cabinet”.
For me, Nina Ramsby has until now been an completely unknown artist, but she does have a great voice and the collaboration between them both in this track is really a great match. The track takes me back to his fantastic solo album “Tellings from Solitaria” when he released the single “Not Tonite” featuring another unknown artist (for me), Vanessa Liftig. Let’s hope there is a solo record in the making because I want another “Tellings from Solitaria” this summer.
If you haven’t paid any attention to Embee’s solo releases, be sure to check them out:
