Stor – Nya Skolans Ledare

Stor - Nya skolans ledare

It’s been two years since Stor released his mix-tape “Dikter ifrån bikten” and since then much has happened. Stor left the group Vendetta to focus on his solo career and has started to work with The Salazar Brothers. He is now also part of the Ayla collective consisting of  Mack Beats, Carlito and  Mohammed Ali. The last release from Ayla was the critically acclaimed mix-tape “Processen” by Mohammed Ali and now the time has finally come for Stor to drop his album, called “Nya Skolans Ledare”.

The first single from the album, “Stockholmsnatt” featuring Adam Tensta and Danjah, was released in November last year and the album was originally scheduled for release in December last year. So a lot of people have been waiting for this (me included) but it was well worth the wait, Stor and Ayla really proves that they are in fact “Leaders of the new school”. The album is produced by The Salazar Brothers, Mack Beats, Masayada and Ears and it features guest appearances from Adam Tensta, Danjah Fille, Jacco, Mohammed Ali, Petter, Promoe, and Sepideh Vaziri.

“Nya skolans ledare” is available for free through Whoa, Playahead, TopStreetWear and MyBestFriendIsMyGrind.

This year is definitely belonging to Ayla and their next release seems to be Mack Beats solo album.

Promoe – Kråksången

Promoe @ Ljunggrens

Last night Promoe’s release party for his swedish album “Kråksången” went down at Pluto in Västerås. Tonight it’s time for Promoe to take stage at Ljunggrens in Stockholm. The release date for the record is 29th of April and you can pre-order the album as usually over at Bengans.

And since yesterday evening you can listen to “Kråksången’s” all fifteens tracks featuring Supreme, Timbuktu, PST/Q, Organism 12, Afasi, Vincent and Magnus Betnér(?!) at Promoe’s MySpace! I haven’t listen to the album yet but I guarantee that we will come back with a review on the record later on. Happy listening!

Max Peezay & Hop Louie – Boven i dramat

Max Peezay & Hop Louie - Boven i dramat

Max Peezay (also known as Tom P from the group Fjärde Världen) released his album “Discokommitén” in 2006. The album featured a dark electronic sound and fast paced rap that was heavily influenced by the British grime-scene. After the album there was a lot of talk about a DVD release and a mix-tape release, unfortunately (at least as far as I know) none of this was ever released and there wasn’t much news about a possible new release from him.

Until a couple of months ago when he released the track “Boven i dramat” and announced that he will be releasing a sophomore album with the same name. The album will be released on May 1 and will be released as a CD and book in collaboration with the street-art artist Hop Louie. Hop Louie has created illustrations which reflects the sound and lyrics of the album.

“Boven i dramat” will feature productions from Cari Lekebusch, Juuso Pikanen, SKITZ beats, Maniac, Daniel Savio (also known as Kool DJ Dust), L-Wiz and Systematic.

With the release of this album the artists and the independent record label Devrim wants to show that you can still produce and distribute music without using the old ways cemented by a dying breed of major record-labels.

“Boven i dramat” is avaliable for pre-order through Dokument Förlag.

Mohammed Ali – Hinna Hinna [Remix]

Mohammed Ali - Hinna Hinna

The group Mohammed Ali (formerly known as UKN) which consists of rappers Moms och Alias Ruggig released their album “Processen” a couple of months ago as a free download through the Swedish hip hop community Whoa. The album was their return to the spotlight after their change of name from UKN to Mohammed Ali. Even though a change of name might seem like just a PR-trick, this was clearly not the case with Mohammed Ali as the album featured a more mature sound than previously and it was obvious that they really had put down a lot of effort into their songs. The album was well recieved by the audience as well as the critics and Chepe from The Salazar Brothers even said that “this is the best album I’ve heard in 10 years!”.

The track “Hinna Hinna”, which deals with the more commercial influence in hip hop today, has been climbing the swedish national radio for a couple of months now and recently they released a remix produced by Masse.

The remix was released exclusively from Ametist blog on MTV and can be downloaded from here! If you haven’t already downloaded “Processen” I strongly advise you to do it, because it is one of best releases (so far) of 2009! You can download “Processen” from whoa’s blog. The album “Processen” is part of a trilogy and the second and third installment, “Processen fortsätter” and “Slutprocessen”, are scheduled for release later this year!

Promoe – Growin' Up On The Road ft. Cosmic

promoefeatcos_growinguponthe-road

If you find it hard to believe how I can release ‘Svennebanan’ one day, and this the next; understand that we got too many styles for anyone to keep us pigeon holed. – Promoe

A great statement by Promoe for all fans that have started to doubt on him since he released the controversial track “Svennebanan“. Anyhow, Promoe has released a new song every month from his hopefully upcoming english album (not to be mistaked with his swedish album “Kråksången”) during 2009. April’s song of the month featuring no other than former Looptroop Rockers-member CosMIC! Definitely a warm welcoming this spring. The title explains the track fair enough and I love hearing them both on a typical Astma & Rocwell-production like this one.

You can also find the lyrics and .wav-format at Looptroop Rockers own website.

Organismen – Den Vita Kaninen

Organismen - Den vita Kaninen

I’ve been waiting to hear something from Organismen‘s upcoming album “Om Gud Vill och Vädret Tillåter” for ages and today he finally released the first single and video from the album! The track is called “Den Vita Kaninen” and he is generously giving it away as a free download through Piratebay. “Den Vita Kaninen” is produced by Dj Large and the video is directed by Torben Stampe.

The video and track can be downloaded through Piratebay. I also recomend you to check out his blog where you can read news, anecdotes and other things regarding him. If you’re interested in hearing a bit more about the upcoming album, his views on IPRED and more you should check out the interview Level 8 Studios recently did with him (swedish only).

Freddie Cruger feat. ADL – Running From Love

Despite releasing numerous albums  and 12″ vinyls and almost having a legendary status abroad, producer Freddie Cruger (aka Red Astaire) is relatively unkown to the general public here in Sweden (and I have to admit that I heard him for the first time just 1 or 2 years ago) . He released his first 12″ vinyl in 1994 and has worked with artists such as ADL, Desmond Foster, Swing Fly & Linn and has been touring all over the world.

“Running From Love” was originally released as a 12″ on Raw Fusion in 2003 and in 2006 also on the compilation album “Soul Search” which had distribution in USA, England and Australia.

The video was released in february this year so I know we’re a bit late on this but I found out about it today and really thought this deserved some attention. So sit back and enjoy, because this is two legends at their best!

The video was produced by Yablo Productions and the album “Soul Search” is avalible through CDon or iTunes

Oliver Def & Bjarne B – Oss

The videos just keep coming! We wrote about Oliver Def & Bjarne B a couple of days ago and we mentioned then that the video to the first single would be out in a couple of days and now it’s released. The video is directed by Anna Kers

Promoe – Svennebanan

The release of Promoe’s album “Kråksången” is getting closer and now the video to his first single “Svennebanan” is finally out! POPE Records described it on their blog as “the sickest, funniest and also dopest video Promoe ever made. /…/ You’re not ready!” and I have to agree. The video is directed by Kamisol and the track is produced by Filthy. The track will be avaliable through iTunes and other digital stores later this week.

“Krångsången” will be out on JuJu Records on April 29, you can pre-order the album here!

Update: Click here to download the lyrics to svennebanan (ripped from the Looptroop Rockers guestbook, unfortunately I didn’t find any way to directly link a single post from their guestbook)

Ken Ring – Hip Hop

Ken Ring released the first single from his upcoming album, “Hip Hop” a couple of weeks ago through the DN PåStan blog. The video, which is a mix of newly recorded material and some old footage from the archives, premiered today on his blog.

The video is directed by Maceo Frost and the track is produced by MarksBeats, recorded by Dawouid in Dehdinpoik Studios and mixed by Ken Ring.

This definitely sounds promising and I’m really looking forward to his album, which will be released sometime during May on POPE Records
