Extra: Knockin’ on my door

I’m a very big fan of Chords but I’ve only managed to see him live 2 times in 5 years, well I’ve seen him as “Helt Off” and of course together with Timbuktu but solo concerts by Chords is still a pretty rare thing. So when i found out that he was doing 2 gigs in Stockholm (one on my first and only day off in 2 weeks!) I was psyched!

I went to both gigs, the first was at “Club Spiderdogs” but I’ll not go into details about that concert since it was nothing in comparison to the gig he did the day after (it also might have to do with the fact that I was a bit drunk during the first gig).

The show kick-starts with Moe and Spider Dogs gradually building up the beat to “Night Time Comes” and by the time Chords enters the stage the crowd is already wild! Spider dogs really does an amazing job and it really ads a lot of extra energy to the show. Wrap your chops is really something extra when you see it with a live band and when the whole crowd is screaming “high, high, high” during the chorus and Spider Dogs stats playing the beat to Luniz classic track “I Got 5 On It” I find it hard to imagine that the show will get any better than this. Wrong!

This gig is full of guests and when he’s done with his verse and chorus from “on the grind” he suddenly starts to sing the chorus from “På din grinn” and Organism 12 jumps up on stage, followed by Öris and then Mofeta. We’ve been promised a secret guest and after Mofeta has left the stage the band starts to play “Det brinner i Paris” and Timbuktu runs out on stage, by now the crowd has gone ballistic! You can really see that these two guys has shared a stage hundreds of times, they could probably jump up on stage together without rehearsing and give one hell of a gig!

The whole show was amazing and it makes one really wonder how anyone in the right mind can choose “Broder Daniel” before Chords. All I can say is that if you went to “The Voice 08″-show (why the hell would anyone do that!?) or just stayed home you really missed out on something! Big up to JuJu Records for the photo from the show!

I can’t record video clips with my phone and I don’t have access to a camera so to really show you how good “Wrap Your Chops is with a live band I thought I would give you a clip from the gig at “Joe’s Pub” a couple of years ago, enjoy!

Lazee – King of Europe

Lazee gives away a new track at Kingsize from his upcoming record “Setting Standards” which will be released the 27th of September this year. I guess you folks allready know that Ishi and Sebastian Ingrosso are the producers behind the record and the guests are Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Loon, Salem Al Fakir, Million Stylez, Neverstore (don’t ask me why Neverstore is on that record..).

I don’t like the new Lazee, thought the Lazee behind the mixtape “It Is What It Is” was way more interesting, but hey – artists develops and sometimes in a direction that maybe won’t catch in particular your own eyes and ears.

Anyway, the track is kocky called “King of Europe” and you can download it previously mentioned at KingsizeMagazine.se. Catch more tracks and videos from Lazee over at sonybmg.se/lazee

Majestic Flow is back!

The one and only Majestic Flow is finally back in business! He has returned from the dead and is back to bring you everything from old-school classics to recipes from your favourite rappers! He has now moved to wordpress and got a new address: http://www.majesticflow.com/. So if you’re interested in the history of Swedish hip-hop you should definitely check out this blog!

TSD was anxious to see if he still got the skills after his vacation so we challenged him to replacing words in the chorus of old Swedish classics and actually managed to top him (he might claim there wasn’t a contest but we both know that it was!). So the score is right now 1-0 to TSD!

Also be sure to look out here on TSD because we’re hopefully get an interview with him very soon!

Promoe – Den ljusnande FRAmtid

A new track from Promoe, called “Den Ljusnande FRAmtid, is out! It deals with a new law here in Sweden, TSD is not meant to be a political blog so I will not go in to details about this law. But basically this law gives the Swedish government the right to check all Internet/phone-traffic that crosses Sweden’s borders, e-mail, SMS, phone calls etc. A real Big Brother society!

Not only does this law violate our constitutional law but it was passed right before the summer vacations but it was passed against the Police and Swedish secret service advise and without any support from the people. As I said I will not go into detail about this law or my personal views of it but this track is a welcomed contribution to the debate.

The track is also a sneak-peak from Promoe’s upcoming album in Swedish! The track is produced by Astma & Rocwell, the illustration is drawn by Johanna Ritscher and the layout was done by Time Will Tell.

You can download the track here!

Kano – Hustler (Behind The Scenes)

At the age of 23 UK MC Kanohas already established himself as one of UK’s top MC’s and he has managed to release 4 mix-tapes and 2 albums. Now he’s getting ready to release his 3rd full lenght album, entitled “140 Grime street” which is scheduled to be released on the 29th of September.

The first single is called “Hustler” and features guest appearances from Adam Tensta and Lazee! (Did you think that I’d forgotten that this is a blog about Swedish hiphop!?) The video and single is not out yet but “Holy Moly” visited the set and did a short interview with Kano (in the video clip you can also catch a short glimpse of Lazee and Adam Tensta).

I’m really looking forward to hearing the full song, I’m especially glad that Lazee is hooking up with a UK artist again and hopefully he’ll get that grime-sound that got me listening to him. No release date for the single has yet been revealed (as far as I know) so for now you have to settle with this snippet.

Check out the 140 Grime Street blog for the latest updates!

[Update 2008-08-15]

It seems that Adam Tensta and Lazee will only be featured on a Swedish Remix and not the official single, this is of course still exciting but nowhere near as exciting as i first thought.
